Mechanical keyboards are the best you can get Rosewill makes a nice one for sub-$100, but otherwise Filco or Razer make excellent boards. Otherwise, get a wired keyboard they've got every advantage over a wireless one besides the ambiguous "pretty" advantage. Aside from the usual function keys (more on these below), the K750 is outfitted with a tiny button that allows you to check whether your ambient light levels. And, of course, there's the Apple keyboard. Alternatively, Microsoft makes some of the hands-down best peripherals for computers, although I'm not sure how compatible they'd be with OSX. Don't bother with solar charging it's the biggest gimmick of gimmicks. If you need wireless, then I'd probably shoot for the next step up, the K850. You may not be a gamer, but gaming-grade products are some of the best in the industry, and it's the easiest way to know that you're buying a high-quality product. In fact, I would dissuade you from purchasing any Logitech product which is not part of their gaming line. It's only redeeming factor is that it's very pretty. The Logitech K750 was, hands down, the worst accessory I have ever purchased for any of my computers. and they sometimes take a little extra force to press down and wear them in again. Some of the keys seem to be getting.stiff I guess is the best word. The plastic keyboard-props on the back must have been connected with baby hair, because they fell off, literally, within the first 48 hours. The entire keyboard flexes when you type too hard, because the rubber feet are on the four corners but there's none in the middle. I end up having to re-read everything I type because a good tenth of the words are missing a letter. The keyboard itself is just mediocre as well. I also had some problems using the keyboard near a running microwave, but that's not too common a usage location. My WiFi access point caused problems with pairing until I switched it to another band.

My portable hard drive causes the keyboard to momentarily disconnect every hour. Additionally, they can suffer from interference from other sources. I've had peripherals switch receivers to someone else's mid sentence, and sometimes I'll just be typing along and suddenly my friend's mouse starts moving mine. If anyone else in a room with you is using any Unifying product, prepare for all hell to break loose. The Unifying Receivers have long been known to have serious interference issues, from a variety of sources. I'm lucky if I can get a week out of the battery now, before I have to manually recharge back to 100%.Īlso, interference. After it got back up to 100%, the battery never lasted that long again. The battery lasted about 4 months before I had to recharge it manually by sticking it directly under a lamp. When I first got it, I used it in a room with less-than 20 lux of ambient light. If you don't have light like this, then you're in for a treat. I've never been able to get upward of 200 lux with just indoor sunlight, so I've always just relied on my lamp to recharge it. I believe the board needs to receive between 100 and 250 lux before it's charge rate surpasses the decharge rate. If you've got light, a significant amount of light, where your computer is at, then this wont be a problem. It's got a lot of problems.įirstly, the battery.

Unifying receiver, so it combines with my MX Revolution. And if you were, well, it should last forever. Supposed 4 month battery life, even if you weren't receiving sunlight. That said, everyone is different! The Logitech K760 Wireless Solar Keyboard is a solid runner-up because of its compact size and solar-powered tech that charges by the sun and lamplight. Plus, it's one of the more affordable top-notch solar-powered keyboards on the market.

Our personal favorite is the Macally Wireless Solar Keyboard because of its versatility, super-strong Bluetooth connection, and impressive 10-degree tilt for a more comfortable typing experience. With such an impressive list of options, it can be hard to pick and choose the best Mac solar keyboards. Both devices connect to the computer using the same small USB receiver. This one comes as a combo pack with the M705 mouse, as well. Logitech's solar keyboard reduces its carbon footprint by storing its own solar-powered lithium battery, eliminating the need for changing standard batteries.
